Ayurveda is a thoughtful amalgamation of five elements of either, Jal (water), Vayu (air), Agni (fire), Akash (sky), and Prithvi (earth). The distinct amalgamation of these constituents culminates in the doshas—the Vata, Pitta, and Kapha constitutions. In Ayurveda, the doshas govern psychological aspects like comprehension, love, and emotions as well as the formation, preservation, and disintegration of physical tissue and waste removal. The doshas sustain the body’s systems when they are in balance; imbalance results when one of the doshas rises as a result of particular dietary and lifestyle choices.
